John is a Shareholder and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Newton, O'Connor, Turner & Ketchum, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of Corporate and Business Law and Litigation.
With over 25 years of experience, John provides counsel in all aspects of Corporate and Business Law, including Mergers & Acquisitions, Structured Finance, Business Succession Planning, and Executive Employment Agreements to a growing portfolio of corporate clients and financial institutions. John has a demonstrated record of successfully resolving commercial disputes through mediation and litigation. John also has extensive experience in litigation of commercial disputes and cases involving constitutional rights.
In addition to serving as an officer and/or board member of several corporate entities, John is an active member of the American, Oklahoma and Tulsa County Bar Associations. John just concluded a year of service as a Director of the Tulsa County Bar Association and Chair of it's Professional Responsibility Committee. He served as a member of the Tulsa County Court Operations Grievance and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees; the Oklahoma Dispute Resolution Advisory Board; Tulsa County Fee Arbitration Committee; and, Oklahoma’s Adoption Law Reform Committee. John is a past member of the American Inns of Court, Council Oak Chapter, and the Oklahoma Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
John served as President of the Rotary Club of Tulsa in 2003-2004. He also served as Foundation Chairman of the Rotary International District 6110. John served two terms as President and member of the Board of Directors of Tulsa's Ronald McDonald House; as Director of Dillon International, Inc. an international country adoption agency; and, as a Director of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. When time permits, John enjoys serving as lecturer for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs for the Oklahoma Bar Association and The University of Tulsa College of Law.
In addition to his commerical practice, John is among Oklahoma's foremost leaders in contested adoption matters and has litigated many of the state's most high-profile cases. John is a fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys.
John received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University, where he served as Student Body President. John earned his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Tulsa College of Law, where he was President of the Student Bar Association. At TU, John was the recipient of the Claude H. Rosenstein Scholarship, as well as the Villard Martin Scholarship. John was also awarded a Graduate Fellowship from the International Rotary Foundation, which led him to Bonn, Germany, where he studied Law at the Friedreich Wilhelm Rheinische Universitat.
John is admitted to practice law in the Oklahoma state courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, and the United States Tax Court. |
